FUFA DRUM 3RD EDITION FINAL
- FT’ Lango Province 2-1 Westnile Province. (Aggregate 2:3)
West Nile Province defeated Allan Okello’s Lango 3-2 on aggregate to win the FUFA drum third edition trophy in a two legged final.
Despite winning the home game 2-1 at Akii Bua stadium in Lira, Lango province failed to overturn the 2-0 away defeat.
Striker Dickens Okwir and pacy winger Joachim Ojera gave the hosts false hope of winning the title when they scored the two much needed first half goals that levelled the aggregate but then defender Toha scored the winner for the westnilers.
Okwir found the opener in the 11th minute and Ojera doubled their lead in the 33rd minute.
Lanky defender Toha scored the all important goal in the 48th minute that won the trophy for the westnilers.
South Sudanese international and Arua Hill defender Toha scored in both finals. Scored from the freekick at Greenlight stadium in Arua alongside Fred Amaku and headed in away from home in Lira.
Westnile beacme the third winner of the FUFA drum, Buganda (2018) and Acholi (2019) champions of the first and second edition titles respectively.
Toha was named the Man of the Match for his outstanding performance.
Dennis Omedi was voted the most Valuable player for Lango province.
Allan Okello scooped the golden boot managing 4 goals in the competition.
It should be noted that Buganda defeated Westnile to win the first ever drum title,Viane Ssekajugo was MVP and goalkeeer James Alitho was top scorer.
Acholi defeated Bukedi to win the second edition 5-3 in a penalty shoot out after a 0-0 draw in normal time.
Tito Okello, Alfred Onek, Richardson Asaba, Moses Okot, and skipper Denis Okot Oola all scored their kicks from the penalty spot for Acholi.
While Disan Galiwango, Frank Kalanda, and David “Colgate” Owori netted for Bukedi but Aaron Okoth was denied by Acholi goalkeeper Derrick Ochan.
Sixteen provinces compete for the prestigious trophy. West Nile is comprised of Political districts of Adjumani, Arua, Koboko, Maracha, Moyo, Nebbi, Pakwach, Yumbe and Zombo.
Lango that lost is comprised of political districts of Alebtong, Amolatar, Apac, Dokolo, Kole, Lira, Otuke and Oyam.
