Abubaker Mayanja joins Ssebulime at Rutgers on a 3 years deal

Lethal striker Abubaker Mayanja has signed a permanent three-year deal with Rutgers University in the United States of America.

The Ugandan forward makes the move from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, also in the USA.

Furthermore, Mayanja reunites with fellow Ugandan Pius Ssebulime.

The duo previously played together during their school days at St Henry’s College Kitovu.

Speaking to Sports256 Media after his unveiling, Mayanja stated

“Personally, I want to take my game to the next level under the coaching staff here. I’m focused on contributing directly on the pitch whether that’s with goals, assists, or just maintaining high performance levels so we can push as high up, win the Big Ten conference and qualify for the NCAA national championship.”

At the University of North Carolina, Mayanja scored 4 goals in 6 games, showing flashes of the clinical finishing he’s known for.

Back home in Uganda, the striker turned out for Synergy FC, Mawokota Ssaza FC ,and KCCA FC before taking his talent to the U.S. collegiate system.

Mayanja’s move comes just a week after his younger brother, Osman Mayanja, signed his first professional contract with Kigezi HomeBoyz FC ahead of their Uganda Premier League debut.
