Coach Faridah Bulega Delighted With CAF B Coaching License.

Ugandan Coach Faridah Bulega has expressed her joy of completing the Confederation of African Football (CAF B) coaching license and was grateful to FIFA and FUFA for the initiative to empower Women coaches.

The former Crested Cranes coach finished her four months CAF B coaching course that started in September and climaxed in December in Kenyan capital Nairobi.

Bulega in her own words, thanked Allah, FIFA and FUFA.

I thank Allah upon reaching this success. It has been a good platform and the knowledge acquired will help the growth of football and development to bridge the gap in Uganda between experience and the young generation. It has been a tough and challenging course though the experience and the outlook of football has changed the different ideas and opinions shared to help with the growth of football. I am humbly honoured to express my gratitude to FUFA, FIFA.

The CAF B diploma course was an opportunity given to Bulega by FUFA under the ‘FIFA Women Coach Education Scholarship.’

The course took 102 days. The scholarship which is a FIFA funded programme is designed to empower more female coaches in women football.

The Course has enabled her to complete and attain the CAF B coaching credentials.

George Lutalo replaced Faridah Bulega as Uganda Women’s National Football Team (Crested Cranes) coach in September.

The issue of whether Bulega will return to the Crested Cranes coaching job after getting the CAF B diploma, remains a discussion for another day.

Earlier, Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) Communications Director Ahmed Hussein Confirmed the development in a statement he released in September.

The FUFA Executive Committee took a decision to continue improving Women football in Uganda. Since 2013 Women football in Uganda has grown in leaps and bounds but the Executive believes that improving capacity building and creating a pool of more qualified coaches are key areas for the game to move to another level. Hussein stated.

Hussein added that, “FUFA capitalized on an opportunity from FIFA through a special project dubbed ‘Women’s Coach Mentorship Programme.”

In his conclusive remarks, he also thanked FIFA.

We would like to thank FIFA for supporting women football development around the globe more so in Uganda. We also extend our gratitude to the Football Kenya Federation for hosting our Coach during the period for the coaching course.

Bulega served as the senior women’s national football team coach for more than three years before going for the course, assuming the same role at FUFA Women Super League side Kampala Queens.
