USSSA 2026 Lira: Bright start for holders Buddo and BCS,other giants Kitende & Kibuli Held.

Day one of the 2026 USSSA National Boys Football Championship games hosted by Lira Town College, saw two big boys, Bukedea Comprehensive School- South and defending champions Buddo SS, kick off the campaign with convincing wins and two other giants unexpectedly loosing two points 

Defending champions Buddo SS beat Teso College Aloet 2-0, and Bukedea Comprehensive School-South beat PP Newton 4-1.

Record winners St Mary’s Kitende, were held to a 1-1 draw by Bukedea Comprehensive School -North and Kibuli SS played to a goal-less draw with Kabalega SS.

Regarded as the weaker team between the two BCS teams, BCS- North started on a Bright note with a draw against Kitende, Uthman Kaaya, finding their only goal and URA FC striker scoring the header for Kitende.

In the other games, BCS -South thumped PP Newton 4-1, Masaka representatives Numasa beat hosts Lira Town College 3-1 and Mukono Kings edged Standard High School Ndejje 1-0.

Captain Abui Malith, Malwa Daniel and Namibia Bonny scored for Daniel Ssegawa’ s Lubiri SS to defeat Seroma Christian 3-0 in their opening match.

Am happy with the boy’s peformance, it’s a good start, we look forward to capitalising on that in our next game. Our objective coming here is to compete so we look forward for the next game.’ Ssegawa told Sports256 media.Ssegawa stated.

Richard Malinga’s AMUS College who won it last year in Ngora with Buddo SS, kicked of with a 4-0 comfortable win against Minnows Trinity College and London College was held to a goal-less draw by Kawempe Muslim.

Wasswa Hassan, Moris Segguya, and Bukenya Fahad scored for the Masaka based school to ensure they bag maximum points.

Defending Champions head coach Semakula Magulu, was happy kicking off the title defense campaign with a 2-0 win

We are grateful for the win, and we are going to go back and try to work on a few things before our second game. we need to be more clinical in front of the goal. Obviously we miss the players who are with the national, but we need to be at our best to win games because in whichever competition, where we are, we have to compete and win it, am new here but I also want to win it amd write my name somewhere.

Edema Brian, Kakooza Swaibu, Aswa Wycliffe and Muyingo Ashraf scored the four goals for Metor SS and Mukwaya Mathew with a brace and Odutu James scored for St. Peters College Tororo in the 4-3 goal thriller.
