PEARL OF AFRICA RALLY 2026: FOREIGN CARS PASS SCRUTINEERING AHEAD OF RALLY

The 26th Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa Rally is set to kick off tomorrow in Western Uganda.

Scrutineering for Africa Rally Championship drivers and international crews took place today at Shell Makenke in Mbarara.

“It was a smooth process, all checked cars passed, i want to thank the drivers for preparing the cars” said FIA Technical Delegate Viren Goricha.

Local drivers were cleared on April 30, 2026.

Defending ARC champion Yasin Nasser (Ford Fiesta R5, co-driven by Ali Katumba) is ready to defend his title.

Tomorrow’s schedule includes qualifying stages (4.66km) and a free practice, followed by a 3.77km shakedown at Lake View Resort.

The ceremonial start is at 5:10 pm.

The rally kicks off for real on Friday with Leg 1, followed by Leg 2 on Saturday, and the crowning ceremony at Mwesigwa Resort.
