Holders Vipers Defeat Lugazi to Keep Grip on the Summit Spot.
Vipers Sports Club put three behind Lugazi FC to maintain their good run in the StarTimes Uganda premier game played at St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende on Tuesday Evening.
Rogers Torach, Usama Arafat and Odili Chukuma goals were enough for the Venoms to keep hold on to their top of the table spot against ten placed Najjembe side.
Defender Torach opened the scoring in the 19th minute with a cracker and shortly in the 30th minute Usama doubled the lead with a same style long-range strike.
Chukuma put the game out of reach for the visitors with the third goal in added minutes of the first half.
Lugazi head coach Simon Peter Mugerwa brought on new signing Amuli Mukasa for David Bagoole with just 20 minutes played, then at half time brought on Alvin Birungi and Allan Batali for Amos Etoju and Muhammed Kakooza respectively.
Midfielder Dawson Mafumu tried from long range but was denied by Kiggundu in the second half.
Watambala got an early header opportunity in the 7th minute but couldn’t hit the target.
Vipers got a quick blow when midfielder Taddeo Lwanga was stretched off injured and replaced by PatrickTorach Mbowa before the 20th minute mark.
Defender Paul Wasswa was booked for reckless play on Chukuma for the visitors.
Marvin Youngman, Yunus Sentamu and Gusto Mulongo were other Vipers players that came on for Mukundane, Karisa and Chukuma
VIpers hold on to the top spot with 41 points in the 18 games played, two more than second placed Kitara FC that defeated UPPC FC 2-0 in the other game on the day.
SC Villa, KCCA FC and UPPC FC are 3rd, 4th and 5th placed with 37, 36 and 34 points respectively.
Else where, Innocent Media scored 1-0 win for NEC against UPDF, Kitara beat UPPC FC 2-0 and BUL beat Police FC 2-0 away from home.
