UFL:SLAU DOMINATES LIRA UNIVERSITY IN A 3-0 VICTORY
St Lawrence University (SLAU) secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Lira University at Crown City Kavule earlier today.
SLAU started right away with a flurry of chances on goal.
The first chance came in after Joshua Ojok delivered a good cross into the opponents’ box, but SLAU striker James Okello’s shot hit the woodwork.
In the 12th minute, James Okello again got another chance, but his effort went begging.
SLAU’s Collins Ssemanda had a clear chance, though he was denied by Lira University goalkeeper Meri Samson.
However, Lira University also created a scoring attempt in the 22nd minute through Ayo Daniel, but his shot went straight to SLAU goalkeeper Mohammed Kateete.
SLAU finally broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute when James Okello scored with a powerful shot into the net.
Before half-time, Lira University’s Alele Innocent failed to score with a one-on-one chance as his effort was saved by SLAU goalkeeper Mohammed Kateete.
Coming back into the final stanza of the game, Sharafah Mukiibi had a great chance to double the hosts’ lead, but his shot went inches wide.
In the 61st minute, SLAU scored their second goal through Sharafah Mukiibi after a well-placed cross from Owane Yasin.
With two minutes to end the game, Sharafah Mukiibi with a brace slotted home, a beauty to make it 3-0.
The win takes SLAU to six points from two games, solidifying its position at the top of Group D.
