Uganda Cup 2026: Kataka Knockout Garuga Stars on penalties To Reach Round of 32.

FUFA big league side Kataka knocked out Garuga Stars FC in the Stanbic Uganda Cup 5-4 in spot kicks after a goalless draw in normal time.

Goal Keeper Ronald Nsubuga put up a heroic performance saving Gerald Yiga penalty to send last year’s semi-finalists to the round of 32 stage.

Biafula Muhammed, Samuel Nangosha, Aka Marcus,Lampani Richard and Ali Sentamu scored their penalties for the visitors.

Edrene Bukenya, Lukman Kalule, Alidi Musanya and Juma Rovins scored theirs for the hosts.

Kataka coach Godfrey Toldo Owachango was happy with the results and expressed his readiness for any team at the next level.

Garuga Stars has been a very strong team, it worked so hard to reach here, it gave us a very hard time but it was good for our preparations going forward, we have seen the mistakes we shall work on them, last time we lost to KCCA in the semifinals and we are working towards that or even winning the title, because this competition you only play like five to six games to be in the final. Am ready for any team, be it one that plays in the top league.

Kataka Goalkeeper Ronald Nsubuga was happy with the progress after a tough test against Garuga Stars.

Am very happy that have saved a penalty to help my team progress, people may call it a small team but it’s good in possessing the ball, we missed several chances, but we thank God that we finished it off in penalties. Nsubuga stated

Garuga stars defender Reagan Ndide reacted on his brilliant performance against Kataka despite being knocked out.

We are knocked out, but I believe it was Allah’s will. I personally prepared so well for this game that i shaped my body well, because games of these magnitude you expect many coaches and scouts to watch them and you never know can help you get to the next level. I want to help.the team get to the next level and, as well, my self.

Kataka will face Matia Lule’s Police FC who was in attendance at Cherish grounds at the round of 32 stage.
