KCCA FC deal Mbale Heroes a humiliating loss with a Resounding 5-0 Victory Over
Kampala, Uganda — Matchday 19, Uganda Premier League
KCCA FC sent a strong message to their rivals with a dominant 5-0 victory over Mbale Heroes at the Philip Omondi Stadium on Saturday night, securing their first win of 2025 and reigniting hope among their passionate supporters.
After a tough start to the year, Abdallah Mubiru’s side looked rejuvenated and relentless, putting on a masterclass of attacking football. From the first whistle, KCCA pressed high, moved the ball with purpose, and created chance after chance — a clear statement of intent.
The breakthrough came in the 21st minute when Usama Arafat unleashed a stunning strike from outside the box, thanks to a well-timed pass from Saidi Mayanja. The floodgates opened just five minutes later, with Shafik Nana Kwikiriza weaving through the Mbale defense and calmly slotting home the second goal.
KCCA continued their onslaught, and just before the halftime whistle, Sadat Anaku tapped in from Kwikiriza’s precise cross, making it 3-0 and effectively putting the game to bed.
The second half saw more of the same dominance. Anaku, eager to add to his tally, missed a couple of golden chances — including a one-on-one with Mbale Heroes’ goalkeeper Simon Mabuya — before being substituted. His replacement, Yain Gatbel, wasted no time making an impact, racing through the middle in the 72nd minute and slotting the ball past Mabuya to extend the lead.
The final blow came late in the game, with Sharif Ssengendo finding the back of the net to complete a five-star performance for the Lugogo-based side.
This emphatic victory is more than just three points for KCCA — it marks a resurgence, a declaration that Mubiru’s men are back in business. With their confidence restored and attacking prowess rediscovered, KCCA will look to build on this momentum when they face UPDF in Bombo on Thursday, March 13.
