FBL: Kabonge’s Gaddafi/UPPC FC defeat Calvary to go top

Veteran forward Davis Kasirye and Midfielder Daniel Kazibwe scored the all important goals for Gaddafi/UPPC Football club in a 2-0 over Calvary Football Club.

 

Kasirye opened the scoring for Allan Kabonge coached side from 25 yards, when his well struck shot beat goalkeeper Joshua Okwaput who failed to deal with the long range shot.

 

Dan Kazibwe doubled the lead for the hosts with a superb header when he connected well to Kawawa Junior Samuel cross in the 72nd minute.

 

Dan Kazibwe joined by Kasirye(7), Kawawa(Captain) and Kyeyune in beab.

 

Simon Peter Odeke and Olaboro got the rare chances to score for the visitors, Odeke was denied by goalkeeper Muhammad Sekeeba and Olaboro effort went inches wide.

 

Veteran forward and Ex-international Frank Kalanda got two chances in an interval of five minutes but his initial effort in the 25th minute went inches over the bar and was closely in the 27th minute denied by the goalkeeper.

 

Before the half time mark, experienced winger Yasin Mugume almost doubled the lead but his free-kick effort went inches over the bar after Tom Kakaire was brought down close to the eighteen yard box.

 

 

Gaddafi could have doubled the lead earlier in the second half when when Davis Kasirye got a golden opportunity but tried to pick up Kalanda but cut back was blocked.

 

Coach Kabonge brought on Kawawa Junior Samuel and Ouke Patrick for Frank Kalanda and Tom Kakaire early in the second half and the duo had a great impact and the former Kaaro Karungi star Kawawa assisted Dan Kazibwe for the second goal.

 

Young stars; Kyeyune and Bogere were also later given chance when they replaced Yasin Mugume and Dan Kazibwe in the 73rd minute.

 

A happy Allan Kabonge, expressed his joy for the win speaking to Sports-256.com after the game.

 

” Am an expert in this league, my mission is to guide this club to the SUPL and nothing else, so am happy with this win my boys have in their best, am a Messiah, I brought happiness to Onduparaka and Paida people & I want to repeat it here where I have done it before with Masavu.” He stated.

 

Gaddafi/UPPC ascended to the FBL summit with eight points accumulated from the four games played so far, Kiyinda boys, Blacks Power and Booma are 2nd, 3rd and 4th placed with 7, 6 and 6 points respectively.

 

Log leaders Gaddafi/UPPC FC, with a fair travelling record with two draws in two outings against Kaaro Karungi and Kiyinda boys, will travel to Arua to face Onduparaka in the next fixture.

 

Gaddafi/UPPC has managed two wins in the two home games, easier defeating Kigezi Home Boys and Calvary.

 

Calvary, are 10th placed with four points accumulated from the four outings so far.
