Masaza Cup: Captain Semwogerere Eager To Make History With Busiro Against Buddu.

Busiro Ssaza captain Rashid Semwogerere in chase for his first Masaza Cup title will as well be, eyeing history to win for Busiro their maiden trophy at the 2022 Masaza Cup finale set for Saturday.

 

This year’s final will be played at Muteesa II stadium Wankulukuku and the game will be graced by his majesty the Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi.

 

Speaking to Sport256 in an exclusive interview, the former Mawokota captain expressed their readiness and hunger to bring the over waited for joy to the Busiro people.

Busiro team set to make history.

 

“We are very well aware they have won it before, they have had the joy before and they know what it takes but this is all what we also want to give our best to achieve and give to Busiro people, that’s why we worked is hard to be here.” Semwogerere stated.

 

” We have prepared so well, every player is here, training well and in good shape. I haven’t won the title before and happy to be in the final for the first time as a player and my target is to win it in my last year of Masaza.”

 

” I want to call upon all Busiro fans to come in big numbers to support their team as they have been doing and as well, call upon potential sponsors to come on board support the team because it’s not doing well financially and this could help boast the players morale. But we well know God will decide the fate in our favour that day.” He concluded.

 

Knick-named Rasta for his dreadlocked hair style, the intelligent center back, who can also be employed as a right back and defensive midfield, lost a semi-final when he represented Bulemeezi Ssaza before crossing to Busiro.

 

Semwogerere current plays for FUFA big league side Lugazi United and he is targeting top tier clubs after the Masaza and Bika final.

” Every player’s aim is to play at top level or even professional football and the same applies to me, so I want to give my best in these two finals hopefully I can get a top tier club or deal for professional football.” He stressed.

 

Busiro eliminated record champions Gomba in the semis and Buddu knocked out Buleemezi to book a final date.

 

Busiro that has played in one final they lost, will target winning their first ever time title against two time(s) champions Buddu.

 

Busiro will be guided by experienced Masaza Cup coaches; Simon Peter Mugerwa and Kawooya Felix Sekabuza that have won the title before with Bulemeezi and Ssingo, Gomba respectively.

 

All eyes will as well be on the impact of Honourable Paul Nsubuga if he will be given some playing time in the final who doubles as a player and team manager.

 

Defending champions Buddu won the title in 2016 and 2021, then will be chasing for the third on Saturday.
