Vipers Sports Club defeated the caterpillars 4-0 to elevate to the top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League log in a game played at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Wednesday.
Bright Anukani, Abdul Karim Watambala, Ibrahim Orit and team captain Milton Karisa found the back of the net to ensure the Venoms reach 23 points.
Anukani opened the scoring in the 20th minute with a well struck penalty after a hand ball in the area by Yakini Rashid.
Midfielder Watambala won the penalty Anukani scored for the hosts after his initial effort that was aimed at goal was blocked by Yakini’s hand.
Karisa was involved in the build up of the goal using his pace so well and managed to find Watambala.
Shortly with only two minutes after taking the lead, Karisa set up Watambala and he doubled the lead when he curved the ball into the loof the net.
Karisa, who was involved in the first goal when he set up Watambala to win the penalty, using his electric pace, beat the visitors’ defence and set up Watambala for the second two minutes after the opener to settle for a 2-0 scoreline at halftime.
Early in the second half, substitute Orit put the game out of reach for the visitors with a long range cracker that beat Muwanga.
Karisa put the icing on the cake for the Venoms when he flotted the ball into the back of the net after beating defenders Yakini and Ojara with speed.
Anukani was booked in the first stanza for reckless play.
The visitors’ best chance of the first half fell to Gadinho but failed to capitalize on Mutombola blunder in the 38th minute.
Midfielder Oketch tried from a close range for the visitors’ on the other first half chance but couldn’t find the target.
Karisa got another chance late in the game but failed on a rebound when his effort was pushed away by goalkeeper Muwanga.
Vipers SC captain Karisa was named Pilsner Man of the match scoring and involved in the other goals.
The Match day 11 result means, the Venoms climb top with 23 points, BUL 2nd placed, KCCA FC drops to 3rd and Wakiso Giants in 4th with 23, 22 and 21 points respectively.
Elsewhere, Sharif Batte scored for the Jogos in a 1-0 win away to new comers Blacks Power.
Maroons managed their 3rd win of the season , Fred Amaku finding the important goal in the battle of armed men against Gadafi FC.
