Young defender and big prospect Semwogerere with a huge dream of playing for the Cranes and professional Football.
Just like it’s a dream of many football players to represent their countries at different levels and playing in top leagues, it’s not different for Busiro Ssaza captain Rashid ‘Rasta’ Semwogerere.
The 21 year old, currently with FUFA Big league side Lugazi United Football Club is aiming at playing in the top tier soon before he can make his dream move to play professional football.
” Am working so hard as a player and I believe that’s why I have achieved this success this year. Am aiming at playing professional football, but my immediate target now is to elavate from this level at least play in the premier league.”
He as well, shared with Sport256 his big dream of representing his country.
” My football dream is to play for the national team at any level and I believe I can achieve this if I work hard play in the top league and I I make it to professional ranks.” He stated.
The dread-locked player, has had a very good year, helped regional league side Lugazi United earn promotion to the Uganda’s second tied league (FBL).
He has also captained Busiro Ssaza FC to their second ever Masaza Cup 2022 final yet to be played against two-time champions Buddu.
He made his Masaza Cup first appearance at Buvuma in 2018, Captained Mawokota in 2018-19, Joined Buleemezi last year and crossed to Busiro this season.
On his first attempt to play in the ‘Bika Bya Baganda’ tournament, he has also helped his clan (Lugave FC), reach the finals.
Semwogerere a graduate of Namasuba Juventus academy, played for the senior team (Namasuba Juventus FC), Kajjansi United before joining his current club Lugazi United.
The versatile defender who can play across the backline, is a fan of the Kasasiro boys locally, Arsenal and spanish La liga club Barcelona.
He further expressed his desire to play for SUPL Clubs, KCCA FC, Vipers SC and Wakiso Giants locally before he can achieve his dream of playing professional football.
He as well, shared his so far best and worst moment in his career in an exclusive interview.
” So far my best moment in the game, is when I helped Lugazi earn promotion to the FBL because I had not dreamt about it. Then my sonfar low moment is when I was dropped by Aspire Soccer Academy when I least expected it.”
In time to come Semwogerere, is hopeful he will be playing for the national team.
” I believe in less than five years from now, many people that have helped throughout my career will be proud of me, with slot of effort and keep focused my target of playing professional football and National will come to pass but it’s all about hard work.” He stated.
The Young defender, is inspired by Spanish defender Gerald Pique as one of those he looks on to, to improve his game because of his intelligence and game understanding.
” Where I was starting the year, I wanted to make a difference in my career, which I have tried to achieve reaching four finals; winning Kanta Pro & Regional League Final, left with Masaza Cup and Bika Final. So my target is to write history win Masaza cup for Busiro and Bika trophy.”
Semwogerere, has shared a dressing room with some of the current SUPL players; Captained Uganda Cranes and KCCA FC forward Rogers Mato and Wakiso captain Hassan Senyonjo at Mawokota in 2017.
