UFL:DEFENDING CHAMPIONS UGANDA MARTYRS UNIVERSITY NKOZI WITH A FIRST LEG ADVANTAGE OVER MUTEESA I ROYAL.

Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi (UMU) edged Muteesa I Royal University 2-1 in the first leg of their University Football League quarterfinal tie.

Richard Lagu’s early goal in the 6th minute, assisted by Francis Ogwang, set the tone for UMU’s victory.

UMU goalkeeper Kibungo Ashraf made impressive saves, including a diving stop against Twaha Bukenya’s long shot.

Muteesa I created chances, but UMU’s defence held strong.

In the second half, Muteesa goalkeeper Joram Kayanja made a mistake, but Mbulachalo denied Allan Odong a scoring chance.

UMU’s Wangi Barnabas skillfully dribbled past Mukisa, but his cross was harmless.

Masaka based Muteesa I had a clear chance via Brian Rwothomio, but he missed the ball.

Late on, Allan Odong created a scoring chance for Obedgiu, but he couldn’t capitalize.

Odong then doubled UMU’s lead with a powerful loop shot past Kayanja.

Muteesa I Roya University pulled one back via a Lutwama Ali penalty, setting up an exciting return leg on March 31, 2026, in Masaka.
