UPL: Matchday 17 Preview

The StarTimes Uganda Premier League returns with Matchday 17 action beginning Tuesday, February 17, 2026, featuring several exciting fixtures across the country.

Tuesday Fixtures

At Royal Park Butema, 14th-placed Buhimba United Saints host Police FC in an important clash at 4:00pm. The Cops head into the fixture buoyed by a home victory over Lugazi and will be eager to build momentum against a Buhimba side struggling for consistency.

In Bugonga, Entebbe UPPC FC welcome Mbarara City FC. The Printers are unbeaten in their last three matches, drawing 0-0 with Maroons, edging KCCA 1-0, and sharing spoils in a goalless stalemate against Express at Nakivubo. Coach Abdallah Mubiru’s side will be aiming for maximum points on home turf. However, Mbarara City, fresh from a win over Calvary FC, will be confident of upsetting the hosts. The two sides played to a 1-1 draw in their first-round meeting in Kamwenge.

Later under the floodlights, table leaders Vipers SC host NEC FC at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende. The Venoms sit two points clear at the top and remain unbeaten at home this season. Despite a 1-1 draw away to BUL FC in their last outing, the defending champions will be determined to protect their fortress. NEC FC arrive in high spirits following a 3-1 derby win over KCCA. Strengthened by new signings Richard Basangwa, Pius Obuya, and Senoga Kagawa, NEC will look to avoid a repeat of last season’s 3-0 defeat at Kitende.

Wednesday Fixtures

On Wednesday, rejuvenated Express FC travel to Yumbe to face bottom-placed Calvary FC. The Red Eagles are winless in their last two matches and see this encounter as an opportunity to return to winning ways. Calvary, however, are still searching for their first victory of the season, having recently suffered narrow 1-0 defeats to Kitara and Mbarara City.

In Najjembe, Lugazi FC take on UPDF FC. Lugazi, currently 11th, are also winless in their last two outings and will hope home advantage works in their favor. UPDF remain deep in the relegation battle and will rue their missed penalty in a frustrating goalless draw against Buhimba last time out.

At Lugogo, KCCA FC host BUL FC in the evening kickoff. The Kasasiro Boys are winless in two matches and will be targeting maximum points against the Eastern Giants. KCCA secured a 2-1 victory in the first-round meeting and will be keen to replicate that result on home soil.

Thursday Fixtures

On Thursday, second-placed Kitara FC face URA FC at Butema. Kitara are in strong form, having won back-to-back league matches against Express and Maroons. In contrast, URA are enduring a torrid run — now nine matches without a win and without scoring a goal. Although they picked up a point in a 0-0 draw against SC Villa, the Tax Collectors face a stern test in Hoima.

The matchday concludes with record champions SC Villa hosting Maroons FC at Kadiba. Villa remain unbeaten at home this season but have dropped points in recent goalless draws against Lugazi and URA. Maroons, meanwhile, are also struggling, with just one goal scored in their last three matches. Both sides will be desperate to claim all three points.
