UFL: UNIK FIGHTING FOR SURVIVAL IN THE UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL LEAGUE
The University of Kisubi (UNIK) returns to action against Kampala University in what promises to be a crucial encounter in the University Football League (UFL).
The Entebbe-based side faces a must-win fixture at the Yes Centre, Nsambya, as they look to revive their qualification hopes.
For context, UNIK is yet to secure a victory this season. They began with a goalless draw against debutants Mountain of the Moon University before suffering a heavy 4-0 defeat to Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST).
Worryingly, UNIK are still in search of their first win in three seasons, adding pressure to this pivotal game.
Meanwhile, Kampala University (KU) head into the clash with strong momentum and eyes set on topping Group A. Coach Titie Kamala’s charges remain unbeaten after two outings—drawing 1-1 with defending champions Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) and cruising to a 3-1 victory over Mountain of the Moon University.
A win for UNIK would lift them to four points and keep their hopes alive, while a Kampala University victory would see them ascend to the top of Group A with seven points.
All eyes now turn to the artificial turf this Wednesday afternoon, where football will decide UNIK’s fate.
