KOBS Secure UGX 195M Sponsorship Deal with KCB Bank, Unveil New Jersey
Ugandan rugby giants, KOBS, have renewed their sponsorship deal with KCB Bank, securing UGX 195,000,000 to bolster their ambitions in the Uganda Rugby Premiership. As part of this partnership, the club has also unveiled a brand-new jersey ahead of their highly anticipated clash against rivals Black Pirates at Legends Ground this Saturday in Game Week 6 of the league.
The sponsorship deal comes at a crucial time for KOBS, a club that has faced a challenging two seasons marred by internal leadership battles. The recent heated executive elections saw incumbent chairman Luggya narrowly retain his position, defeating Rutayisire by just five votes (85-80) to secure a second term.
One of the club’s major struggles in recent seasons has been financial stability, especially after a branding conflict forced them to part ways with Guinness. The agreement between the Uganda Rugby Union and Nile Breweries, the league’s title sponsor, prohibited KOBS from featuring Guinness branding on their jerseys and at their home ground.
The renewed KCB Bank sponsorship provides much-needed financial muscle to strengthen the club’s operations and competitiveness, sentiments the club chairman echored.
I want to thank KCB for standing with us since they took on this sponsorship in 2023. It has not been easy for rugby clubs to secure sponsorship in the current economic climate, but KCB has remained committed to us even through challenges. Chairman KOBS RFC
This financial injection will go a long way in helping the club manage the various logistics needed for success, both on and off the field, with their new kit and sponsorship boost, KOBS will look to make a strong statement in their clash against the Black Pirates. The match at Legends Ground promises to be a thrilling encounter as both teams battle for supremacy in the league.
