Henry Musabe: My 2026 USSSA Games Lira best XI

As it has always been the norm, after the Uganda Secondary Schools Association games 2026 held at Lira Town College won by Amus College, i bring to you my best Eleven (11) from the 64 participating schools

The selected best XI players, are based on their natural abilities, individual brilliance and contribution towards their respective schools in the 2026 USSSA games.

I have picked the XI in the 3:4:3 system, three defenders, four midfielders, and three forwards

Usama Chagamo- (GK), Amus College

The golden glove winner deserved the accolade with the saves he made in the final against BCS and his outstanding performance from group stages to the final game. He beat Etuta Siraje – SMASK and
Tonny Katangalo- BCS for the place in my XI who were also outstanding.

Kisakye Lorian – SMASK

Not basically a natural defender, but because of his quality and versatility, he was used at left back, and he was so impactful, offensively, and creating chances for his school. Team mate Ocatre Collin, Amus’ Okello ans BCS-South’s were other serious contenders for this position.

Jamil Idi Rashid- AMUS

It was a tough decision picking him ahead of an experienced Buddo SS captain Barasa Dickson, but Amus Captain Rashid command, structure, and helping his school knock out tough sides JIPRA, Mentor SS, Kitende and BCS in the final gave him a nod.

Dennis Sewagudde – BCS

The Elcambio graduate’s quality, composure, and leadership on the pitch was excellent. He was used as a left back, central attacking midfielder, and on both flanks by coach Ssali. There were not many players in the tournament that could match the left footed Sewagudde’s quality.

Bashir Edema – Kyaddondo SS

In the absence of starman Ogema Thomas and captain Ashraf Lukyamuzi, the workaholic tiny defensive midfielder was pivotal in his schools’ first ever East Africa qualification

Kyalula Sadat- Aidan College

His nine goal contribution to his school playing in the midfield made the debutants Aidan College

Nyonyi Ntono Goeffrey- Buddo S.S

The only player that returns in my best XI for a consecutive year, he made it in Ngora and he makes it in Lira, despite last year winners Buddo SS being knocked out at an early stage but his quality he wins my MVP award

Abui Malith- Lubiri SS

Knocked out at the quarter final stage, the Lira championship introduced another talented attacking midfielder with a lot of potential, scored many important goals for Danicho Ssegawa coached side in the tournament He won my silver ball. He was second to Nyonyi Ntono Goeffrey.

Mawejje Isaac – JIPRA

Knocked out early by AMUS College at the round of 32 stage, but I wished to watch this energetic, slippery winger more. It was a hard decision to make to pick him ahead of Rafa Masudi of Kyaddondo

Mudasiru Ijiosiga -AMUS

The lanky center forward saw off competition from Numasa’s Waiswa Hassan, Mathew ethan mukwana and BCS striker Simon Wanyama to lead the line.

Otim John Brian – AMUS

He won my bronze ball, ranked the 3rd best peformer in the tournament, an electric left footed winger, his deliveries and goals for his school in this year’s championship could go Un-noticed

The other players that couldn’t Male my XI bit were outstanding include; Balaba Francis – Buddo SS, Waiswa Hassan – Numasa, Mathew Ethan Mukwana – St Peter’s, Ocatre Collin- SMASK, Barasa Dickson – Buddo SS, Rafa Masudi- Kyaddondo, Etuta Siraje – SMASK, Tonny Katangalo- BCS, Osiniya Giggs – BCS, Dimizida Serungaya – Ssingo SS, Ronald Segirinya- Buddo SS, Simon Wanyama- BCS
