FTWSL: Valley Warriors Host Queens in Derby Showdown Opener
The 2025/26 Finance Trust Bank Women Super League kicks off today with a thrilling Kampala derby.
Kawempe Muslim Ladies Football Club — the “Valley Warriors” — will host defending champions Kampala Queens this afternoon in what promises to be a fiery season opener.
Coach Ayub Khalifa’s Kawempe side will be eager to start strong, but they face a stern test against the Lugogo-based Queens. History suggests this will be another fierce battle: last season, Kampala Queens thrashed Kawempe 4-1 in the first round, only for Kawempe to exact revenge with a 2-1 victory at Lugogo, courtesy of an unforgettable brace from Agnes Nabukenya.
This time, Kawempe will again look to Nabukenya for inspiration, alongside exciting new signing Latifah Nakasi, as they aim to reclaim bragging rights. On the other hand, Kampala Queens will rely on the quality of Catherine Nagadya and Joanita Ainembabazi to maintain their dominance.
