On Wednesday, May 8th, the JT Lady Jaguars and UPDF Lady Tomahawks sought redemption against Our Savior and Miracle Ravens, respectively, after both teams suffered losses against the same opponents in the first round.
In a gritty battle, the UPDF Lady Tomahawks emerged victorious against the Ravens, who faced adversity with only six players on the court due to injuries and fouls. Despite the Ravens’ determined efforts, the Lady Tomahawks seized an early lead in the first quarter and maintained their advantage throughout, clinching a hard-fought 68-59 win.
While the Ravens’ duo of Hanifah Namuli and Akello Winnifred showcased impressive performances with 18 points each, the Army side displayed remarkable teamwork, with four players reaching double digits in scoring: Stella Marris Lunkuse (10), Christine Namyalo (12), Sandra Asiimwe (10), and Elsy Khaboshe (11).
Meanwhile, the JT Jaguars secured a narrow victory against Our Savior in a closely contested matchup. Despite holding a nine-point lead heading into the fourth quarter, the Jaguars faced a spirited comeback effort from Our Savior. Pol Mas ignited a late surge for Our Savior with three consecutive 3-point shots, narrowing the game to just one point.
However, the JT Jaguars remained composed, capitalizing on free throws in the closing moments to secure a slender 59-56 win. Pol Mas led the scoring with a game-high 21 points, along with 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals, while George Agasi delivered an outstanding performance with a double-double of 18 points and 13 rebounds. Kevin Moru (16) and Yesman Bushiri (13) also contributed double-digit scores, ensuring the Jaguars’ triumph.
