Referees Daniel Outeke and Joshua Duula awarded controversial penalties that put the game of football to disrupt in the National Post Primary (NPP) Semi-finals.
Thursday 28th April 2022, was a dark day in the Schools Championship in Arua as poor officiation took center stage at semi-finals something that led to players chasing over referees in both games and beating up Duula in the second game.
There was earlier anticipation of very entertaining and close contest in the semi -final games many fans didnot live to see.
Referee Daniel Outeke who was in charge of the St Mary’s Kitende Vs Kibuli SS awarded a controversial penalty to Kitende for an equaliser which in reference to the video there was no contact between the defender and striker Charles Lwanga.
This is the moment that turned the game around conceding what is referred to as a controversial penalty and this is where Kibuli lost it.
Angry Kibuli players attacked and sorrounded the referee but were calmed down and Rogers Torach leveled matters for Kitende.
Frustrated Kibuli SS scored two in their own net after conceding the penalty.
Joshua Duula was also at it the second semi-final between Buddo SS & Gombe High School, sending off Ogwang on a second bookable offence early in the first half and also awarding a controversial penalty to Gombe which sparked off the chaos.
Oscar Mawa Senke didnot do any mistake scoring the penalty and instantly the chasing of the referee by Buddo players started and Police had to calm down the situation.
After conceding the second which again the Buddo SS players thought there was a foul in the build up, referee Duula didnot survive the beating and had to send off Buddo captain Innocent Ronald.
Buddo SS head coach Simon Peter Mugerwa said the finalists were determined by referees Mistakes after loosing to Gombe High School.
The final is set to be played today Friday 29th at Barifa Stadium.
Kibuli SS are record holders with 11 titles and St Mary’s Kitende are looking for their 10th title if they can defeat debutants Gombe High School.
