Buganda Masaza cup 2026 favourites Kyaggwe and Gomba alongside underdogs Busujju bagged crucial wins as they defeated Mawogola, Buddu and Butambala respectively in the Quarter final first leg games on Sunday.
Kyaggwe beat Mawogola 2-1 away from home, Gomba thumped Buddu 3-0 at home and Busujju edged visitors Butambala 1-0.
Gomba Ssaza assistant coach Davis Nnono, was happy with the win but clearly pointed at the return leg as most important game to progress to this year’s semifinals.
We are happy we have defeated them with a 3-0 goal margin against a very good team, but it’s not yet over we are going to go back work extra hard ro finish the task in Masaka. Nnono Stated.
At Kabulasoke play ground, former Buddu player Muhammed Kasule, Alfred Sebunya and substitute Hassan Waiswa scored for the record winners and hosts.
Former Mawokota and Gomba player Abula Micheal, scored for Busujju against Butambala in their 1-0 home victory.
As well, former Busujju striker Lubwama Lauben and David Mugalu were on target as Kaggwe edged Mawogola 2-1 in Sembabule and Asuman Senono scored the consolation for Mawogola.
In the other Quarter final clash, Bugerere were held at home 0-0 by Kyaddondo.
Kyaggwe with the away 2-1 advantage, will host under dogs Mawogola at Bishops play ground in Mukono and three-time champions Buddu will welcome record winners Gomba at the Kitovu Sports Arena.
Kyaddondo will host Bugerere at Santana playground in Wampewo Kasangati and Butambala will entertain Busujju in Kibibi.
All the four return leg matches will be played on Sunday, 20th September 2026.
The finals of this year’s Masaza cup, will be held at Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku.
