Bunyoro Head Coach Gama optimistic after dumping out Rwenzori to reach Drum group stages.

Bunyoro Province Head Coach Henry Gama is hopeful and confident his side can go as far as winning this year’s FUFA Drum title speaking to this site after knocking out Rwenzori Province 4-2 on aggregate in preminary round games.

Rwenzori Province ascended to the FUFA drum group stage level after defeating Rwenzori home and away 3-2 and 1-0 yesterday away from home.

Derrick Byabacwezi scored the all important goal yesterday for Gama’s men to ensure maximum six points off Rwenzori to reach the group stage level.

FBL side -Buhimba United forward Edison Agondeze bagged a brace and Kitara’s star man Frank Zaga Tumwesigye scored for Bunyoro in the first leg.

Gama in charge of the province for the first time, expressed his delight helping the team progress to the group stage and pointed at their target this year.

” We are happy our first mission is achieved that was going past the preminary knock out stage defeating Rwenzori home and away, now we are looking forward for the bigger challenge in Busoga and Kigezi. I appreciate the boys for the commitment and dedication to their province, we are all focused this year to make history because our target is clear to go as far as we can and am sure we have the quality in the squad to go as far as winning the title.” Gama told this site.

At the group stage level, Bunyoro Province will face Busoga Province and Kigezi pitted in group C.

Gama before he was named head coach, he had served the province as Head of Technical when Mark Twinamasiko was head coach and Fred Arinaitwe was his assistant.

Gama replaced Arinaitwe now head coach of Lady Doves who has been in charge for the past two seasons.

The CAF licence holder, took over the provincw’s helm with vast experience having been at SC Villa in 2004-2006, coached Hoima FC in the top tier, guided Dove FC to the FBL in 2017.

Gama was also charge of Kitara Region select team that drew 2-2 with Sebastien Desabre’s Cranes in the Cranes Namutima match in Kasese in 2018.

Allan Okello’s Lango Province are defending champions after they beat Busoga to win it last year, West Nile (2022), Acholi (2019) and Buganda are other that have ever lifted the prestigious trophy.
