Sukuya Stars in Vipers Win over Blacks Power to Reach Quarter Final -Who is this new Darling at Kitende?

In absence of fellow left footed teammates and competitors; Allan Okello and Abdul Karim Watambala, Sukuya’s superb performance against Blacks Power, has left many club fans and football lovers astonished.

Pedro ‘Sukuya’ Honjo Chimbiambiulo ‘ scored and assisted twice as the three-time(s) champions Vipers SC, ejected FUFA big league entity Blacks Power FC to reach the Stanbic Uganda Cup 2025 Quarter Finals.

New boy on the block and Fans’ darling Sukuya, assisted Yunus Sentamu to score the opener in the 31st minute for the hosts to take the lead at the break.

Hitman Yunus Sentamu paid back to the trickery midfielder with superb cut- back, for Sukuya to double the lead at the 59th minute mark when his well struck left footed effort beat goalkeeper Ondongokara.

Central defender Livingston Mulondo put the icing on the cake when he headed in a well crafted Sukuya corner in the 61st minute.

Fans, more so St Mary’s Kitende students, that came along with ‘SUKUYA’ placards, that they raised high before kick off scored highly after their man put up a Man of the match performance at the end of the game.

Sukuya, had a performance to remember in his Vipers’ career, having not got enough playing time earlier with the availability of tough competitors Okello and Watambala currently away with the national team.

Vipers SC coach Fred Muhumuza was happy for the qualification to the next around but as well congratulated Man of the match Sukuya and colleagues for their outstanding performance.

” I want to congratulate the boys, the approach was good, the energy was there, we knew we were praying a tough team aiming for promotion, but eventually we picked up the points..we had changed in out it paid off, want to thank the energy by Sukuya, Mulongo, Katongole, they came on a ND did their best, want to congratulate Vipers to make it to the quarter finals.” Muhumuza stated.

Vipers joined holders Kitara that defeated UPPC-Gaddafi 2-1, BUL FC that thumped West Nile Regional league team – Total FC 7-0, Kataka FC that knocked out former champions URA FC URA 1 (3) – 1 (5), FBL side Kaaro Karungi that beat UPDF 3-0 in Ntungamo, KCCA FC that beat Rwenzori Lions 4-0.

Vipers in hunt for their forth title, won the cup in 2015/16, 2021 and 2023 when the beat Onduparaka, BUL and Police respectively.

Who is the new darling Sukuya at St Mary’s stadium?

Pedro Honjo Chimbiambiulo alias Lukuya is an Angolian versatile player who can play as an attacking Midfielder and on the flanks.

The left footed attacking Midfielder, signed a two year contract for the Venoms in June last year (2024) and his contract will run untill 2025/26 season.

Sukuya was signed shortly after the announcement of former URA and SC Villa left-back Derrick Ndahiro by then head coach Nikola Kavazovic from Serbia.

The 27 year old, skillful player, featured for Wiliete Sports Clube de Benguela SAD, Talentos De Benguele, ANZ Desporto Angolano, Domant FC and Petro de Luanda before joining Vipers.

With the two first options; Allan Okello and Watambala away on national duty and Waisswa given a rest, gave chance to me, the most skillful player in the league to showcase his potential in -Sukuya, who hasn’t been limited with playing and has officially joined the competition for the starting role at the club after the impressive show against Blacks Power.

 

Sukuya Potential and Skill

The Angolian born footballer, is taking the league by storm- proving to be among if not the  the best when it comes  to using the ball, footwork, step-overs and most importantly exciting the fans with his trickery in possession.

 

The winner of the Uganda Cup qualifies to earn a slot to play at the CAF Confederation Cup.
