Egypt AFCON U-20: FUFA Boss’s son Shafiq Magogo Makes Final Hippos Squad

 

Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) president Eng. Moses Hashim Magogo must be a happy father after his son Shafiq Magogo has made cut to represent his country at the U-20 Africa Cup of nations to be held in Egypt.

 

Shafiq and Alpha Thierry Ssali son to renown singer Moses Ssali alias Bebe cool, is the major highlight of coach Jackson Mayanja final squad set to fly out on Saturday.

 

Shafiq is among the many U-17 graduates that represented Uganda at the U-17 AFCON in Morocco two years ago that have made the U-20 final Squad.

 

Others that were part of Coach Hamza Lutalo U17 AFCON squad named include; Abdu Magada, Kamya Shamulan, Ibrahim Juma, Madoi Ronald, Travis Mutyaba, Ivan Irinimbabazi, Hakim Mutebi and Bugembe Issa.

 

Musician Bebe Cool’s son Alpha is also not a surprise figure having been part of the national junior teams and of recent, was part of the Hippos squad for the zonal qualifiers.

 

Winger Rogers Mugisha, right back Justin Opiru, goal keeper Oyo Delton, Samson Kasozi and Isma Mugulusi are other notable graduates that have already represented Uganda at junior levels (U-15 & U-17).

 

The final 25 man travelling squad, led by Isma Mugulusi and his assistant Titus Sematimba, is comprised of 3 goalkeepers and 22 outfield players.

The team that started the preparation journey at FUFA technical center in Njeru, had it’s last training session on Friday morning at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

 

The team will fly out on Saturday evening (6PM) to Egypt and where it will have some friendly matches according to FUFA.co.ug.

 

The tournament will take place between 19th February to 11th March in Egypt with The Hippos pitted in Group B along Congo Brazaville, Central African Republic and South Sudan.
