
CAF CL: Vipers SC Lose To Neighbours Simba.
Vipers Sports club painfully took home a second group C loss after they fell at the hands of fellow East African Giants Simba SC in the Total energies CAF Champions league game played on Saturday at St Mary’s Stadium Kitende.
The Venoms conceded early in the game, after central defender Henock Inonga rebounded from close range to give the visitors’ the lead in the 20th minute.
The hosts tried at many occasions to fight back into the game but Simba’s defence was a hard nut to crack under flood lights at Kitende.
However, there were two penalty claim incidents for the hosts, earlier in the 3rd minute when Yunus Ssentamu was brought down in the area by the defender and again in the 36th minute when he went for a rebound on Karisa’s initial effort and was brought down by the goal keeper Manula.
The other first half chance for the hosts, fell to speed merchant Lumala but failed to hit the target in the 21 at minute.
A big blow hit the Venoms when team captain Karisa who was so far the greatest threat on the night, was stretched off injured at the end of the first stanza and was replaced by Ibrahim Orit.
The visitors’ other first half clear chance to double the lead, fell to Chama Junior whose left footed effort hit the side net from close range.
Vipers coach Roberto Luiz Bianch Pelliser introduced left winger Martin Kizza and Serge Mwenge for Watambala and Lumala at half time, something that proved to have worked for him for the first 20nkins of the second half, but didnot have much impact on the final result of the game.
Defender Mukundane who was lively on the night, went close to finding the equaliser in the second half when he raised highest to head in Galiwango’s freekick but his effort went wide.
The result meant, the Venoms will continue for the search for the first goal and first win under new manager Bianch who took over from Simba’s Robertinho.

The Venoms lost the 3rd group game 1-0, having lost the first 5-0 to Raja Casablanca away from home and drew with Horoya (0-0).
In the other group C game, leaders Raja Casablanca defeated Horoya 2-0.
Vipers are bottom placed with a point got off Horoya at home.
In the last three group games, the Venoms will travel to Tanzania to revenge against Simba, will host Raja Casablanca and travel to Guinea to face Horoya.
As it stands, Raja has got maximum nine points, Horoya second placed with 4 points, Simba with 3 and Vipers bottom.
