Forward Rogers Mato first half strike was enough for the Kasasiro boys to bag maximum points away to the Purple Sharks in the StarTimes Uganda Premier league game played at Wakisha Grounds.
Uganda Cranes winger Mato scored in the added minutes of the first half to ensure log leaders KCCA FC extend the summit lead to five points.
Before Mato broke the deadlock in the 46th minute, forward Kakonde and Midfielder Moses Waiswa had missed on the visitors’ first half clear chances.
The second half chances for the Kasasiro boys, fell to Left back Brian Majwega and Moses Waiswa but both failed to find the back of the net.
Man of the match accolade winner and goal keeper Derrick Ochan, denied Shariph Kimbowa and Moses Aliro the equaliser from close range on the two hosts’ first half chances.
The visitors brought in Kagawa and Charles Lwanga for Allan Okello and Mohammed Shaban in added minutes of the second half.
KCCA FC manager Morley Byekwaso was happy with the team’s performance ” We thank God for the gift of life, thank the players for the input, am so happy picking up results because it’s not easy getting them here, they have attached well but in football sometimes you need to have luck, we struggled in the first half but you can easily see we came back and changed our approach, it’s not am easy task to win the trophy, we need to do alot in every department. In the other league game played as the second round returned, Darius Ojok scored for Maroons as they defeated Busoga United 1-0 away from home.
The Kasasiro boys lead the log with 32 points, with BUL FC, Vipers, Wakiso Giants and Villa in 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th position respectively.
SUPL action returns on Friday with a single game as second based BUL FC welcome 12th placed Blacks Power FC.
