Legend Tonny Mawejje Retires As Vipers SC Clinch 5th Uganda Premier League title.
Vipers SC win their fifth Uganda Premier League title after previously emerging champions in the 2009/2010, 2014/2015, 2017/2018 and 2019/2020 seasons.
Vipers Sports Club have been crowned champions of the StarTimes Uganda Premier season 2021/22 after defeating Police FC in the StarTimes Uganda premier game played at St Mary’s Stadium Kitende.
The Venoms that had already won the title with four games to play, put the icing on the cake with a 5-0 humiliation of relegated force side Police FC on the season deadline day.
Cranes winger Milton Karisa, scored in the 6th and 52nd, midfielder Bobosi Byaruhanga also bagged a brace in the 54th and 71st and hitman Yunusu Sentamu closed the scoring in the 90th minute on Saturday at Kitende.
On the same occasion when the Venoms were were recieving their fifth premier league title, Ugandan Football legend Tonny Mawejje (TM6) decided to hang boots after Nineteen (19) years of his playing career.
TM 6, hanged his boots at the age of 36, apart from serving his country whole heatedly for all those years, has played for many clubs since 2005 that include; Kampala City Council FC, Police FC, Uganda Revenue Authority SC, ÍBV Vestmannaeyjar, Golden Arrows (loan), Haugesund, Valur,Þróttur, Tirana and Al-Arabi SC.
He has represented his country for 17 years form 2004, won 84 caps and scored 8 goals for the nation.
Police FC, was unlucky to concede in the 6th minute which is Mawejje’s lucky number and in the same minute, the game was stopped and the whole stadium stood up to applause & appreciate the legend for his contribution to Ugandan football both at club and country.
Mawejje, was greatful to God and appreciated everyone who has been in his successful Football journey.

Congolese import Cesar Manzoki won the 2021/22 golden boot with 18 goals. In the two years, he has spent at Kitende, the team is proud of his 32 goals he has scored on in all competitions.
Bobosi Byaruhanga, Abdul Karim Watambala, and Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye among the graduates from St Mary’s Kitende have won two league titles and another graduate Mutwalib Mugolofa has won it once.
Reigning SUPL MVP Bobosi, was named the Pilsner Man of the Match on the closing day of the the 2021/22 Season.
” I am happy that after the hard work we lifted the League title with four matches to go. We shall continue to work hard ahead of the remaining matches and also the knock out Cup,” said Vipers SC’s Brazilian coach Olivier.
In the other SUPL games played on Friday, second placed KCCA FC beat Tooro United 2-0, both goals were scored by Sadat Anaku.
Third placed Tax collectors Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club defeated army entity UPDF FC 1-0.
The Venoms will play BUL FC in a repeat of last year’s Uganda Cup final on 12th June 2022 in Masindi District.
Away from the football match, it was a beer, soda, entertainment by artists, and eating festival at Kitende, as fans enjoyed all for free, the first of it’s kind in Uganda Football.
Eddy Kenzo, King Micheal, Grenade, Rahma Pinky, were some of the artists that entertained the fans at the stadium.
Police FC, Mbarara City FC and Tooro United were relegted to the FUFA Big league and will be replaced by Blacks Power from Lira, returnees; Maroons and Kyetume FC
