Reagan Lukwago: Edgar’s Youth forward daring to dream

 

Edgar’s Youth Programme teenager Reagan Lukwago is hopeful and courageous he can achieve his childhood dream of representing his country and playing professional football in a short time to come.

 

The 18 year old, who also doubles as SUPL Club KCCA reserve team player, is endowed with great pacy, ability to beat opponents and a great eye on goal.

Lukwago with mega self believe, feels he has all it takes to be there, ” My dream is to play professional football in Europe and the national team(s) and that’s my immediate target and the hard work is towards that. I would love to play for big European clubs like Arsenal one day.”

 

The double footed speedy winger stresses that in a few years to come if all goes well, he won’t be playing in Uganda, ” I have a feeling In few years I will have started my professional journey and and will have gotten my chance to represent Uganda in a major tournament.”

 

The young star was inspired by former Arsenal and Barcelona star Thierry Henry when he was still young to play the game and he expressed his desire to once play for the London club.

 

He also expressed his love to play for KCCA FC, Vipers SC and other big teams locally before he can make his desired move to Europe.

 

Lukwago praises Cranes duo; Savio Kabugo and Yassar Mugerwa as those senior players he has learnt from having shared the same pitch.

 

” It was a special feeling as a young player playing with Yassar and Savio, they always advised me on what to do and when when we were playing for Nkima clan. The two and Dennis Kalanzi at Ssese Ssaza are so far the players have really enjoyed playing along side.” He stated.

 

Lukwago has gone through numerous coaches; Allan Kabonge (Lake Victoria Academy), Emmanuel Bornaparte Amagu (Nkumba University), Andrew Ssali, Emmy Kisakye (Edgar’s Youth) and Richard ‘Complete’ Malinga (KCCA FC).

 

Before crossing to Edgar’s Youth, Lukwago had represented Aidenal SOSA, Five Stars and Lake Victoria academy -Kabonge Foundation among other academies.

 

The teenager highlighted on his so far best and worst moment in his playing career speaking to Sport256.com.

 

” My best moment so far playing the game, is when I won the
2018 Bika tournament with Nkima and most importantly I was the youngest player in the team and the worst so is when I sustained a knee Injury and I missed playing Masaza during the COVID period.”

 

He also hinted at former teammate at Nkumba University and Edgar’s Ayiman Twaha as his toughest opponent so far when they met in Masaza against Buddu.

 

Lukwago who lost the 10th edition of Entebbe Holiday boys and girls football soccer camp 2023 (U-20) final to Five Stars with Nkumba University this month, had won the last Edition with Allan Kabonge Foundation.

 

He had won the 6th edition U-17 title with Five Stars in 2017 against Kampala Junior team before he graduated to U-20.

 

Locally Lukwago idolizes KCCA FC midfielder Allan Okello and Cranes captain Emma Okwi and internationally, he is a fun of Christiano Ronaldo, Neymar Jr and Lionel Messi.

Away from playing football, Lukwago is a student of Logistics and procurement management at Nkumba University.

 

Lukwago has a single brother who plays football Steven ‘Bukina’ Gitta currently with 4th division side Entebbe Pride FC.

He has also featured in Masaza cup for Ssese in 2019 and lost to Busiro in the quarter finals.

 

The teenager born to Mr. Byansi Paul Muzinda unfortunately lost the mum Sarah Namubiru when he qaas still a young boy.

 

” My father used to to take me to watch football matches on TV, I loved Thierry so much for his style of play and the way he used to score goals and I started picking interest and I always want to score like he used to do.” He concluded.
