Just like it’s a dream of many football players, it’s not different for Arua Hill SC Midfielder Stephen ‘Rastaman’ Kabuye who also target representing his country and playing professional football.

Kabuye celebrating his goal against Police FC

It has been my childhood dream to play for the national team, then play professional football outside Uganda and whatever I do is towards that. Everyday am thinking of representing my country soon. Whenever, I speak to my coach (Mbabazi) our discussion is focusing on the two and I believe one day soon I will achieve this.

The silky midfielder, joined the Kongolos in the January 2022 transfer window and managed 2 goals and 3 assists.

Kabuye also pointed at his targets as a player for this coming season set to kick off next month.

I want to help the team finish in a better position atleast in the top 4 than we achieved last season by scoring more goals and making more assists.

I feel we need to win some trophies for the fans, atleast if we can start with the Super 8 it would be so good for us.

My target is to score 6 goals and 6 assist this season something i believe with hard work then the good preseason I have had, I can achieve.

It was a good team performance finishing in top 5 and we need to build on that, and it was such a special moment for me scoring on my Arua Hill debut against Police FC.

I want to work extra hard this season to see I can help the team achieve it’s targets as well as helping my self get a bigger club.

When asked to comment about his relationship with Ugandan legend and his current coach at Arua Hill and a man who brought him to the top tier while still at Mbarara City, he had this to say;

Mbabazi is a very friendly person, easy to wrk with as long as you understand what he wants on the pitch…I believe he is the best coach in Uganda among those have seen and worked with, his understanding of the game is exceptional he has helped me develop as a player gave me the first chance to play in the premier league so I pray that God blesses him more.”

Rastaman as his close pals prefer calling him because of his ‘Rastafarians’ hair style, played a single season at Mbarara City, a season as well at Kyetume FC before joining Arua Hill SC.

Kabuye joined the Kongolos in January and penned a one and half year deal that will see his current contract expire at the end of this coming season.

The young star believes in a period of 3-5 years, he will have settled well in the Cranes set up and he will be playing for one of the biggest clubs in Uganda or abroad.

In the big conversation, Kabuye highlighted on his so far biggest football moment.

I must say scoring on my Arua Hill debut is a moment i cannot easily forget and as well other moments that easily come my way is my Mbarara City first goal against Police in Mbarara and my first goal when I had joined the SUPL against Blacks Power.

The 21 year old, also pointed out Vipers’ workholic midfielder Siraje Sentamu as one kind of player he wouldn’t wish to play against regularly.

The toughest player have ever met is Sentamu, it was my first match when i had joined the league playing for Mbarara but he was very rough.

The young star also mentioned teammate Ivan Eyamu as one of his best teammates in the game of football.

I must say have enjoyed football when am on the same pitch with Mansoor Safi, Onyai and Eyamu. So I must say they are my best teammates so far.

Kabuye is a product of Aspire Soccer Academy (Mulago) but also went through Kampala Junior Team (KJT).

Kabuye hails from a family with very little football background and he is the only one who has played in the top tier of Ugandan football.

The young lad, wishes to play for one of the biggest clubs in the country that include; KCCA, URA and Vipers before leaving for professional football.
