Okello,Mutyaba start as Paul Put names balanced squad face Tunisia

Uganda Cranes Coach Paul Put has named both Allan Okello and Travis Mutyaba in the team to face Tunisia in the 2027 group H Africa Cup of Nations qualifier to be played at 10:00hrs East Africa time at the Hammadi Agrebi stadium.

Uganda creative players Okello and Mutyaba, that can operate in the number ten role and on the right of attack, both have been selected to start in the group H opener.

Salford Football club right back Nathan Asiimwe among the new faces in the squad, starts at right back and USA based midfielder Noble Okello is also named in the compacted midfield.

Versatile, Al Ittihad Alexadria club star Kenneth Semakula, has been drifted to the back line and will partner Rogers Torach and Aziz Kayondo at left back in Uganda’s defence with Sibbick expected to retain the right back position.

Hearts FC forward Rogers Mato, will lead the hunt for goals with attacking Midfielders Okello, Mutyaba close to him.

Veteran goalkeeper Dennis Onyango starts between the posts and Turkey based defensive midfielder Baba Alhassan starts in the middle of the park along with Nobble Okello, Mutyaba and Okello.

Center forwards Stephen Desse Mukwala, Frank Sebuufu, James Bogere, forward Dennis Omedi, midfielder Allan Oyirwoth are the other attack minded players named on the bench by the Belgian gaffer 

Goalkepers; Hannington Ssebwalunyo and SC Villa shot stopper Lukwago starts on the bench, along with Villa teammate Goeffrey Lubagkene, and Nairobi United defender Gavin Kizito.

KCCA FC captain Achai, along with SC Villa vice captain Mukundane are the other defenders named on the Cranes’ bench.
