KAMPALA – Defending National Basketball League champions City Oilers are just one victory away from another finals appearance after producing a championship-caliber performance to defeat Rez Life and take a commanding 2-0 lead in their best-of-five semifinal playoff series at the MTN Indoor Arena, Lugogo.

Oilers once again demonstrated why they remain the benchmark in Ugandan basketball, executing an excellent game plan when it mattered most. With composure, experience, and timely execution, the Oilers found another gear in the decisive moments to leave Rez Life facing an uphill task.

Rez Life played with tremendous heart and determination throughout the contest. They competed fearlessly and never backed down against the defending champions, but ultimately the night belonged to the Oilers, whose championship pedigree shone through in the closing stages.

Patrick Ekau led the way with a game-high 27 points, delivering another outstanding offensive performance. He was well supported by Landry Ndikumana, who contributed 15 points, while Patrick Rembert added 14 points. Komagum dominated the boards with 13 rebounds to go alongside eight points, providing a crucial presence in the paint.

For Rez Life, Michael Othieno finished with 15 points, but his efforts were not enough to prevent his side from slipping into a 2-0 series deficit.

The result leaves Rez Life with a mountain to climb. To reach the finals, they must now win three consecutive games against the defending champions—an enormous challenge against a City Oilers side that appears to be hitting top form at the perfect time.

As the series shifts to Game Three, City Oilers will be looking to complete the job and seal another finals berth, while Rez Life will be hoping to keep their championship dream alive by extending the series.
