Micho’s squad comprises of three goal keepers, eight defenders, four midfielders and six strikers
Onform Onduparaka Striker Muhammed Jagason Shaban has returned to the Cranes fold after a long spell as head coach Milutin ‘Micho’Sredojevic named the squad for the upcoming trip to the United Arab Emirates where the team will have two high profile international build up matches.
The 21 man named squad, will play Gabon on 30th December 2021 and Mauritania on 1st January 2022 in international build up games in Abhu Dhabi.
The experienced Ondu captain returns along with another forward Patrick Kaddu who has also spent months out of the fold without club.
Shaban made a big decision to leave Vipers SC back to Onduparaka after recovering from a long injury, something that has paid off enjoying a good run in form scoring vital goals for the catepilars.
The highly rated player is preferably the most prolific striker on the land .
For starters, Shaban has featured for KCCA FC, Vipers SC, Morocco side and Raja Casablaca.
Micho pointed at building a team for future engagements while naming this team.
‘We are assembling the Uganda Cranes team that will competitive get engaged in several upcoming engagements as the TOTAL AFCON 2013 and TOTAL CHAN 2022 qualifiers. Such international build up matches are a perfect measure for early preparations’ Micho revealed.
It is a blend of the players from the StarTimes Uganda Premier League and the foreign based legion.
Two South African based players; goalkeeper Isma Watenga and Moses Waiswa are part of the team.
SC Villa Wonder kid Travis Mutyaba has also been considered feo his good form in the StarTimes Uganda Premier league.
Uganda Cranes will play two AFCON bound teams Gabon and Mauritania.
The first game will be against Gabon on 30th December 2021 and the second game against Mauritania shall come on 1st January 2022.
The team departs the country on 29th December 2021 and shall return on 2nd January 2022.
