Depending champions and hosts Victorian High School Entebbe will kick off their title defense against Airforce SS in one of the early kick off games this Monday at Kabira playground in Katabi.
The German cup 2026 Seventeenth edition, will see eighteen (18)schools participate in the Boy’s Football championship hosted by Victorian high school from Monday 15th to Saturday 20th June 2026.
For starters, this is a tournament organised every year to remember those who lost their lives during the Covid-19 pandemic, it’s a tournament that involves all schools in Entebbe and outside Entebbe,it’s organised by Victorian high school Entebbe led by Mr Ngudo Robert.
According to the German cup sports manager Brian Blex, the ground is set for the competition to roll tomorrow.
This is going to be a special edition because we have included many other things, we have brought on board girls football that has for a long time been left out, and we expect a very tough tournament, just like Light High showcased the best football last year but unexpectedly didn’t feature in the final and we expect them to be a serious contender, as well the hosts would also love to retain the title and Entebbe Parents display in the USSSA qualifiers so coming back at home we expect them to seriously compete.we anticipate a very good tournament.
The screening was done yesterday, and tomorrow, games are set to start, and all pitches are set.Blex stated.
Victorian H/S edged Entebbe SS in oenalty kicks to the last year’s trophy, with Entebbe International still holding the record winners’ title.
Formerly organised by German Secondary School, now changed to Victorian High School Entebbe which are still the main sponsors.
The three pitches that are to be used in this edition are well set and includes;
Kabira Gombolola, Works play ground amd Police stadium.
For starters, German Cup was a tournament that was earlier played between the Entebbe villages until 2014 when it changed to schools competition.
Record winners Entebbe International/ Standard school with two titles on their name 2024 and 2023 will face Entebbe SS, Merryland Lake View and Kakindu in group D.
The screening of the participating schools was successful concluded on Saturday to ensure no machineries take part in the students’ tournament.
The 17th edition will alos see schools compete in other games that include; Netball, Football girls, Rugby, Athletics, Chess, Volleyball, and others.
