The Rotary & Community Football Gala Hosted by Rotary Club of Kitende set at St Mary’s Stadium

Preparations for the first edition of the Rotary & Community Football Gala hosted by Rotary Club of Kitende are in high gear and the event will be held on 7th March 2026 at the home of Vipers SC -St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.

The Gala that was launched days ago, is expected to host Rotary Clubs, Rotaract clubs, Community teams and Corporate teams from allover the country with the first edition theme being GOALS for Good simply meaning, each goal that will be scored or any achievement will be towards giving back to the Kitende community.

The participating teams pay; Shs 100.000 for Rotaract clubs, Rotary clubs Shs 250.000, Community clubs shs 150.000 and Corporate company clubs shs 500.000 each.

The chairperson organising committee Mr Jackson Mutebi, expressed their readiness to host the different teams and he anticipates a colourful day at St Mary’s Stadium.

Preparations are progressing very well and the momentum is encouraging.
So far, we have 5 Rotary Clubs fully confirmed and 9 more that have expressed interest, 4 Rotaract Clubs confirmed with 3 additional prospects, and 6 community football clubs already showing interest. Mutebi stated.

This tells us the Gala is quickly growing beyond a club event into a true Rotary–Community platform, which is exactly what we envisioned. He added.

Mr Mutebi, further highlighted on the broadness of the event clearly stressing that the community should expect more than football.

Veteran Journalist & Radio 4 sports presenter Yusuf Baliluno confirmed he will be part.


The Gala is a full family-friendly charity sports festival — combining football, fitness, fun, food, fellowship, and community service. There will be competitive football matches, BBQ, drinks & refreshments, Games and kids’ activities, Music and entertainment and Networking and Rotary fellowship, but most importantly, every goal scored contributes to a bigger cause — supporting Education & Literacy projects in our community.

 

With the cause, being supporting Education and Literacy service projects with (classrooms, desks, etc), Kitende COU Primary School is the beneficiary of the first edition.

As Kitende Rotary team, we are a young club, we are privileged that Dr Lawrence Mulindwa our big sponsor through Vipers, gave us a platform of using St Mary’s Stadium, we are preparing well, we can use this opportunity to be fit, health as a team. We started training and preparations on 8th so that we can win, however much we are the hosts, but we want to challenge the awards, so different Rotary Clubs, rotaractors , community clubs, corporate team should come well prepared because we so prepared , the vibe in training is high…So as Kitende, we are targeting the title, we are in for business, so we call upon everyone to come over enjoy the games.

Winning teams will walk away with trophies, cash prizes, and other tangible rewards up for grabs.

The gala fans, will pay an affordable UGX 5,000 open to everyone who wants to be part of the experience and support the cause.
