Vipers SC Reaffirm Stand on League Format Dispute

Vipers SC has ended speculation over their participation in the highly anticipated doubleheader scheduled for Saturday. The development comes after a stalemate between FUFA and three clubs — NEC FC, SC Villa, and Vipers SC — with only the latter maintaining its firm rejection of the new league format.

In a strongly worded statement, Vipers pointed to FUFA’s “utter disregard” of their earlier communication, stressing that the federation went ahead to include them in the doubleheader fixtures despite their opposition.

The club’s rejection has dampened marketing efforts and weakened the promotional push around the weekend fixtures, as one of the key stakeholders remains in open defiance.

Although the Uganda Premier League (UPL) fixtures are expected to proceed as planned, uncertainty lingers. The biggest question remains: will the fans — who themselves are vocal critics of the new league structure
