A delighted Iguma, was greatful to Police FC family and pointed at a bigger challenge as well as personal ambitions as to why he couldn’t hesitate to sign for the Kenyan Giants.

I must say I have had some good time at Police for the six months I have been there playing regularly, the players have been a good family but of course as a player i had personal ambitions.

But am as well, delighted with the opportunity to join a big team like Tusker because before signing for Police, I had to be here but there were some terms that delayed the deal until today and they have been following up. I also love playing for big clubs, because they give you a bigger challenge and it’s more competitive. He told Sports256 in an exclusive interview.

Am here because Tusker is a big club, it’s competitive club and there is more exposure here, so am here for competition and it’s more important to be where they need you because they as well need my services. Am ready to give my best to this club.

Asked about his potential quick return to the national team fold;

Am not thinking of Cranes return for now, but my performance at Tusker because I have also been active at Police. I want to add on what other players have achieved during the first round keeping the team on top of the log, so I want to repay for their faith and respect to me. So the ball is in my hands to work hard and prove my worth here to get to the next level and it’s my performance to matter here, to my family and later may be return to the national team. It’s mostly my family that pushes me to work harder, so wherever goes well for me here I will be greatful to God.” He added.

He as well, praised his manager Patrick Macheme who has been pivotal in completing the move to the KPL.

I also feel greatful to my brother, friend and manager Patrick Macheme here with me who brought the deal and has been there and made me love this club even before the league started in Uganda, so am happy with Patrick and I cannot dispoint him. No body else can do something like this when he doesn’t really love you and knows your potential. I want to conclude by thanking my other people; Skynet World Wide Express – Manager Tonny Ssozi, Benjamin Ongwech, FOF- Entebbe, Manager Miph Mugabi, am greatful that they have kept me in shape at ESA PARK and I really miss the ESA Park people because I have met many good people there that showed me love, motivated me ‘ Guma you can ‘, though I had started giving up, but they gave me alot of courage to work harder, so this is the right time to start afresh so that whatever God blesses me here helps me and my family and all those that have wished me well.” He concluded.

Patrick Macheme, a well established players’ manager in Uganda who has been incharge of Iguma’s transfer to the KPL, was happy with the development and was greatful to FUFA for the assistance rendered to the player to move for a better offer and bigger challenge.

” I must say it’s a good opportunity for the player who is very anxious to return to the top of his game and the national team, though, we had some other offers here and internationally, we saw that, playing for Tusker which is as well a very demanding club, would help him much. There are other offers in Africa and outside which we also think of but he is for now a Tusker player and targeting to help the team to win the league title.

Macheme who is currently in Kenya where he has been for a while to finalize the deal, didn’t hide the players’ itching target of returning to professional ranks and hopefully returning to the Cranes fold.

” It’s not a secret, the player is working so hard here and there, and we believe playing in the KPL is more demanding than here (Uganda) and this will help him raise the bar to effectively compete get back to professional ranks and as well for his place in the national team soon or later. And personally, I feel by AFCON the player will be fit and ready to compete with any one.” Macheme concluded.

Tusker FC a side that has managed the most wins so far, are in a tight title race with log leaders Police FC both tied at 36 points, the latter having a better goal difference (five).

Tusker acquires the Ugandan International, who has represented his country 63 times managing to score one goal.

Iguma, preferably is a natural central defender, but also plays at right back and defensive midfield and an experienced lad that has played for SC Victoria University, Al-Ahed SC, Bekaa Club, KCCA FC, Police FC and others.

In hunt for their 14th league title, Tusker will host rivals Police on Saturday 1st February 2025.
