Baker Mbowa Appointed New Head Coach of Mbale Heroes
Former Soltilo Bright Stars and Express FC coach Baker Mbowa has been appointed as the new head coach of Mbale Heroes, following the sacking of Asaph Mwebaze. Mwebaze, who had been suspended for 28 days due to indiscipline, officially parted ways with the club this week.
Mbowa, a seasoned coach with extensive experience in the Uganda Premier League, takes over at a crucial time for the struggling side. He has previously managed Bright Stars, URA, and most recently Express FC, where he earned a reputation for his tactical approach and commitment to developing young talent.
In a statement announcing Mbowa’s appointment, the club emphasized that his vision closely aligns with Mbale Heroes’ mission to become the most successful community football club in Africa, both on and off the pitch. “Coach Mbowa comes in with a wealth of experience in the Premier League, bringing a deep passion for nurturing young talent, which aligns perfectly with the club’s vision and mission,” the statement read.
Mbale Heroes are currently enduring a challenging season, with the team having won just two of their 15 Uganda Premier League matches so far. The club now finds itself at the bottom of the league table, and Mbowa’s immediate task will be to turn their fortunes around.
The new head coach’s first test will come this Sunday, as he prepares the team for their Uganda Cup Round of 64 fixture against Simba FC in Gayaza. This match represents an important opportunity for Mbowa to make an early impact and get the team back on track.
Mbale Heroes has experienced significant managerial turnover this season. Richard Malinga began the campaign in charge, before Mwebaze took over. Now, with Mbowa at the helm, the club hopes to find the stability and leadership needed to improve their performance and achieve their long-term goals.
Fans will be watching closely as Mbowa takes the reins, hoping that his experience and passion for nurturing talent can help restore the club to its competitive best.
