
FUFA Super 8: Omedi’s dwimmercraft propels Kitara to Semi-Finals
In a captivating match on Tuesday evening, Kitara Football Club forward Denis Omedi stole the spotlight with a sensational rabona goal against KCCA FC at the MTN-Omondi Stadium.
Omedi’s spectacular display of skill came just a minute after KCCA’s Joel Sserunjogi had opened the scoring with a long-range strike. Positioned at the edge of the box, Omedi executed a flawless rabona, bending the ball past KCCA’s goalkeeper, Anthony Emojong, to level the score at 1-1.
This goal was pivotal, as it set the tone for a thrilling 3-3 draw that saw Kitara progress to the FUFA Super 8 semi-finals with a 4-3 aggregate victory.
The first leg had ended in a narrow 1-0 win for Kitara, making this second-leg match a high-stakes affair. Omedi’s rabona was not only a crucial equalizer but also a potential contender for the prestigious Puskas Award, showcasing a level of flair that could well define Ugandan football history.
The forward continued to influence the game significantly, assisting Jude Ssemugabi’s first goal in the 37th minute, which gave Kitara a brief 2-1 lead before KCCA’s Bright Anukani equalized with a penalty just before halftime.

The second half saw Kitara’s Ssemugabi complete his brace, thanks to another excellent assist from Omedi in the 48th minute. Despite KCCA’s defender Muhamood rising to head in a goal and level the score again in the 53rd minute, Kitara’s resolute defense managed to hold firm.
Omedi’s contributions throughout the game ensured that Kitara retained their aggregate advantage and secured their place in the semi-finals.
As Kitara Football Club prepares for their next challenge, they will await the outcome of Wednesday’s clash between BUL FC and Maroons FC, with the first leg of that tie having ended in a 1-1 draw.
