Defender Matovu Eager to Impress After Completing Move To Vipers

Defender Richard Matovu can’t wait to get started at his new home -Vipers Sports Club after completing a move from Arua Hill Sports Club.

Left back Matovu joins as a free agent, after he saw out his contract at the Kongolos at the end of last season.

He joins the club as a direct replacement of departed Disan Galiwango and brings in health competition to Issa Lumu and young star Enock Walusimbi for the left back position.

Speaking at the unveiling, the fast raising left back expressed his readiness to get started.

I am very excited and can’t wait to work with the group,” Matovu stated.

“Things didn’t pan out as I would have loved and when Vipers came calling, it was a no brainer for me to move. I am happy the deal got done.”

Matovu will be at St Mary’s Stadium for the next two years as per his employment contract that runs until 2025.

Matovu managed 47 Uganda Premier League appearances across two seasons at Arua Hill.

In the previous campaign, he managed 25 appearances in the league, helped the Kongolos to fourth place finish with 44 points.

“I am here to be part of what the club wants to attain but as an individual I want to show the fans my real potential and ensure the club is successful.”

Matovu brings more experience to the squad having played for BUL FC and Kyetume FC in the Uganda Premier League.
