There was immense excitement, joy and fun as Entebbe revellers flocked ESA Park for the ESA Park Premier League (EPPL), that kicked off on Saturday in Kitubulu Entebbe.
The EPPL week I, that saw five games played, will this Saturday 8th July, return with 5 games on the card at the ESA Park pitch.
With the vibe and interesting action experienced last Saturday, players from the top most level in Ugandan Football – StarTimes Uganda Premier League, FBL, regional league, Ex-internationals and also corporates clubs taking part, alot is expected as the league returns with week II games.
Alot of attention will be on the 18:40 hrs clash between two league big boys; table leaders NWM that won their first game 9-1, against another all star studied team- Skynet that defeated Cheetahs 2-1.
The two sides tied at 3 points, face off in a mouth- watering top of the table clash, that may decide who goes to the summit after match day II games.
The quality possessed by the two sides, both hugely dominated by StarTimes Uganda premier league stars, pulls much attention of the EPPL fans.
NWM is composed of some active SUPL players and Ex- football stars; E. Wasswa, Ochan, Iguma, Seruwagi Martin, Coach Edward Ssali, Sewankambo Kennedy, Ashraf Juuko, against Skynet a side that is composed of some U-20 stars like Tom Kakaire, Dennis, Kalanzi, Kawawa Junior, veterans; Joseph Owino, Simon Wamala, Agaba Patrick and others.
The week II opener, will be between two teams that also bagged 3 points each on Matchday I,
CBICE that defied odds to defeat Public Beach (1-0), will have a tricky test this weekend when they take on red-hot Touch sounds that beat ESA FC (5-2) at 4pm.
A big test for Corporate side – CBICE that face Touch Sounds, comprised of some active players and veterans; Simon Namwanja, Sunday Mukiibi, Isma Kabugu, Gospel Mangeni, Kezaala, Andama, Kigemuzi among others.
Angry ESA FC that lost their first game, will feature in the second game of the day in search for their first point(s) against Kayinja that defeated Guda.
The last game, will see hungry side Public Beach that lost 1-0, face bottom placed Football for All, a side that was humiliated in the opener last weekend.
The league champions will be crowned in late August and will walk away with a bull, trophy and gold medals.
NWM, Touch Sound, Kayinja, CBICE and Skynet are 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th respectively, all tied at 3 points separated by the goal difference.
Veteran striker Isma Kabugu of Touch Sounds lead the top scorers chart with Five (5) goals, two more than NWM’s Emmanuel Wasswa with 3 goals.
Allan Mulindwa (NWM), has got (2) on his name, with Dennis Iguma (NWM), Martin Seruwagi (NWM) Dan Bainomugisha (CBICE) are others that have found the back of the net so far in this first edition of the EPPL.
