WDFA: LATE DRAMA AS ENTEBBE POLICE FC SNATCH 1-1 DRAW AGAINST NKUMBA KATAKA FC

Entebbe Police FC picked up a vital point after battling to a 1-1 draw against Nkumba Kataka FC in a tense Wakiso District 5th Division League clash.

Entebbe Police started on the front foot.

Right back Ssimbwa Herbert went close early, but his effort was blocked by Nkumba Kataka defender Kamanda.

Apuuli then tried his luck from distance, only to see his strike crash against the side netting.

Nkumba Kataka responded through Wasswa David, whose first attempt was comfortably collected by Entebbe goalkeeper Muhammod.

Just past the 30-minute mark, midfielder Wasswa Kiose broke the deadlock with a brilliant finish, drilling through the Entebbe Police defence to put the hosts ahead.

Ssimbwa almost hit back before the break, but his header went inches wide.

After the restart of the second half , Entebbe Police FC dominated possession and pressed for an equalizer.

Emma Stacy unleashed a rocket shot, but Kataka goalkeeper Maddie punched it clear.

The visitors finally got their reward in the dying minutes.

Wasswa celebrating Nkumba Kataka FC goal

From a freekick, Entebbe Police captain Obong Elvis Patrick Papa saw his effort saved by the Kataka goalkeeper, only for the rebound to find the back of the net and seal a 1-1 finish.

Speaking after the game, captain Obong Elvis Papa remained optimistic “It’s a good point for us and we keep believing that we shall win our last game against Gangu Rangers so that we get promoted to the next level.”

The draw leaves Nkumba Kataka’s survival hopes hanging by a thread, while Entebbe Police’s qualification fate remains in their hands heading into the final league games on Sunday.
