FWSL: UGANDA MARTYRS LUBAGA WFC CELEBRATES SWEET HOME VICTORY OVER LADY DOVES

The Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League second round resumed today with four fixtures across various grounds.

Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC kicked off with a bang, beating Lady Doves FC 2-0 at St Gerald’s Stadium.

The match began with both teams feeling each other out, playing cautiously in the early minutes.

Lady Doves took the first chance in the 7th minute, but Uganda Martyrs goalkeeper Joan Namusisi was equal to Namande’s shot.

The home side responded with a Maureen Kizza freekick, but Lady Doves goalkeeper Bamaniriza was on hand to save.

As the game wore on, chances were few and far between, with both teams struggling to break the deadlock.

Immaculate Nakanjako and Brenda Munyana had opportunities for Uganda Martyrs, but they couldn’t find the back of the net.

The breakthrough came in the second half, courtesy of a well-taken corner and Captain Gloria Namugerwa headed home to give Uganda Martyrs the lead.

The hosts continued to press, and Maureen Kizza sealed the win with a second goal in the 76th minute, capitalizing on a Lady Doves goalkeeper error in the pouring rain.

Kizza’s goal sparked wild celebrations among the home fans, and Lady Doves struggled to recover, eventually succumbing to the hosts’ pressure.

Kizza was named Woman of the Match for her impressive performance.
