Pitso Mosimane Loses multi million Court Battle Against Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns have secured victory in a high-profile, multi-million-rand legal dispute against former head coach Pitso Mosimane and his agency, MT Sports.

In a judgment delivered on 19 August 2025, Mosimane and MT Sports were ordered to pay Sundowns approximately R7.9 million in agents’ commission fees, plus 7% annual interest backdated to 10 May 2021—an additional R500,000. They have also been directed to cover the legal costs of the trial and related applications.

The case originates from Mosimane’s shock exit in 2020, just four months into a four-year contract, to take up the managerial role at Egyptian giants Al Ahly. MT Sports, led by agency director and Mosimane’s wife, Moira Tlhagale, claimed Sundowns had failed to pay agency fees from contract negotiations in 2012 and 2016, arguing this justified withholding the disputed commission. Despite the court’s ruling, MT Sports has confirmed their intention to appeal.

Adding to the turbulence at Chloorkop, Ribeiro Lucas has reportedly terminated his contract with Sundowns, intensifying the club’s ongoing contractual and transfer challenges.
