Marvin Youngman Returns to Vipers SC: A Familiar Face, A Renewed Challenge

Marvin Youngman Returns to Vipers SC on Two-Year Deal

Vipers Sports Club have officially confirmed the return of midfielder Marvin Joseph Youngman, securing him on a two-year contract that extends until January 2027. The 26-year-old makes his comeback to St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, after a spell with Soltilo Bright Stars FC.

A Familiar Face Back at Kitende

Youngman is no stranger to Vipers, having played a crucial role in their triumphant 2022/2023 season, where they clinched both the Uganda Premier League and the Uganda Cup under coach Alex Isabirye. His contributions extended beyond domestic dominance, as he was also instrumental in Vipers’ historic journey to the CAF Champions League group stages.

His return was strongly endorsed by Vipers’ co-coaches John ‘Ayala’ Luyinda and Fred Muhumuza, emphasizing the club’s belief in his capabilities. Notably, this marks the second time Youngman has moved between Vipers and Soltilo Bright Stars, a unique cycle that highlights his deep connection to both clubs.

Youngman’s Perspective on the Move

Expressing his excitement about rejoining the club, Youngman reflected on his previous time at Vipers with fondness and ambition.

My two years at Vipers Sports Club were a time of pure contentment for me, both on and off the pitch,” he remarked. “I grew as a person and a player, developed a special relationship with the Vipers fans, and enjoyed amazing success. It was an exceptional period in my life. To have the opportunity to return here means so much.

Despite his nostalgic reflections, Youngman remains focused on the present and future, determined to push himself further.

I don’t want it to sound too nostalgic to be honest, because it’s still about competing. It’s still about having that drive. It’s still about trying to be the best version of yourself, and that’s an ambition I still have,” he added.

He reiterated his commitment to excellence and his hunger for success at Vipers.

But I still want to prove myself every day in training sessions and games and still become the best possible version of myself. I still have an incredible sense for winning, for competing and I think the package that you get here, right now today, you can’t find it anywhere else, and that made it for me very, very easy to come back

A Competitive Midfield Battle

Youngman’s return adds depth to Vipers’ already competitive midfield, where he will compete for a spot alongside the likes of Patrick Paul Mbowa, Karim Watambala, Moses Waiswa, Abubakar Lawal, and Abubakali Walusimbi.

A Journey of Growth

Before cementing his place in Uganda’s top-flight football, Youngman’s journey saw him feature for Bulemeezi Ssaza, Busujju Ssaza, and lower-tier side Hima FC. His growth as a player has been marked by determination and resilience, qualities that will be crucial as he embarks on his second stint with Vipers SC.

As Vipers continue to strengthen their squad for the season, Youngman’s return signals their intent to challenge for more silverware and maintain their status as one of Uganda’s football powerhouses.
