The man behind the historical province performance, Gama pointed at the toughness of the game and his technical and tactical approach that helped him overcome the westnilers.

It was a tough game, very competitive against a good team. It wasn’t an easy team with a lot of experience and a good background in this competition. We thank God that we have managed to come and pick a win . Just like after the first leg, I wasn’t happy with the home draw after wasting several chances, so coming unto this game, I was so determined playing against a tough opponent that also needed to win at home. Technically and tactically, we knew they would need an early goal, so we had to hold on to wait for our moments to cause damage. Want to thank the players that they followed the instructions. And on the side, I want to thank the management headed by president Deo Kasozi who has stood with us, the fans and all the players. Gama stated.

As Bunyoro, when the tournament was kicking off, my promise was that we shall handle each game as a final, so my strategy is still working well for us, I promised the fans progress to the group which we achieved then later progress from the group which we did then my promise to make otbto.the last four is what we have just achieved so we shall lay our strategy for the semifinal after knowing our opponent. It’s history made for Bunyoro reaching this stage, we are grateful to God.He added.

Bunyoro is the only team that hasn’t won the championship before among the four semi-finalists that include; Acholi, Lango and Buganda and no team has won it twice.

For starters, the FUFA Drum, is an inter-provincial tournament in Uganda, has had four different winners since its inception in 2018; Buganda 2018, Acholi 2019, Westnile 2022 and now defending champions Lango. The competition was designed to promote local talent and enhance unity across the provinces
