UFL:UGANDA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY EDGES IUIU TO CLOSE OUT SEASON

Uganda Christian University (UCU) concluded their University Football League campaign with a narrow 2-1 win over IUIU.

Striker Abiti Harry opened the scoring for UCU in the 10th minute, converting a cross from Najib Bananywa.

Experienced Ofoywroth Isaac set up Kyeyune Isaac after a good dribble, but the ball was cleared away.

Midfielder Kyeyune Isaac also paved a good pass to Ofoywroth, who delivered a cutback, but his ball couldn’t find his teammates.

UCU’s Ivan Kisembo had a chance before half time, but his powerless shot went straight to the IUIU goalkeeper.

Ofoywroth Isaac doubled the lead for the home side just into the second half, scoring in a good assist from Najib Bananywa.

IUIU’s Kiggundu Rogers scored a consolation goal through Emmanuel Shinkaga’s freekick.

UCU had several chances to extend their lead, but Ssekisambu Reagan’s header went inches wide.

The 2019 Champions UCU finished 4th with 7 points in Group E, while IUIU ended 5th with 4 points.

Their qualification hopes were ruined in the last away game played with Makerere University, which ended 2-1.

Makerere University tops the group with 9 points, followed closely by Ndejje University and Kumi University with 8 points each.
