The 2023 University League Champions Nkumba University has been held a 1-1 draw by Busitema University

Nkumba University’s Captain Ismael Lubega scored an early penalty to give his team the lead against Busitema University.

Mwebe Nasser was brought down in the box, and Lubega converted the spot kick.

Lubega had another scoring chance in the 12th minute, but his freekick hit the crossbar.

Beach boy’s Abbey Kavuma went off target with a shot, and Mwebe Nasser’s effort was cleared by Busitema’s Besweri David in quest for a second.

At halftime, Nkumba led 1-0.

In the second half, Mwebe Nasser’s cross found Ochwo Silver, but he shot wide.

Busitema’s Nsubuga tested Nkumba’s defence, but they held firm.

Jordan Othieno’s shot was saved by Lubega, but he scored an equalizer for Busitema University with 20 minutes to play.

Owino Shannon’s assist was impressive, and Nkumba’s chances slipped away.

Kavuma had another great opportunity to score a winner, but Busitema’s goalkeeper saved it.

The game ended 1-1, disappointing Nkumba.

Nkumba needs a win against Kyambogo University next week to boost their quarterfinal hopes.

Group C standings: Kyambogo and YMCA (7 points), Nkumba (4 points), ISBAT (3 points), Busitema (1 point).
