UFL:MOUNTAIN OF THE MOON UNIVERSITY FREEZES UMU’S QUALIFICATION HOPES

Defending champions UMU Nkozi were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by Mountain of the Moon University (MMU) at their fortress.

The Saints had an early chance through Ronald Obedgiu, but MMU goalkeeper Paddy Luwaga was equal to the task.

MMU took an early lead , with captain Aheebwa David scoring a thunderbolt strike in the 9th minute.

UMU pushed for an equalizer, but chances were scarce for the hosts.

Obedgiu had a tap-in opportunity after Odong Allan’s cutback, but he couldn’t convert.

MMU’s Byonabye Eric also went close to doubling the visitors’ lead, but his effort sailed over the bar.

The Saints threatened before halftime, with Wijo Taban’s effort forcing a save from Luwaga.

In the second half, UMU made their move, earning a penalty that Obedgiu converted to level the scores.

The hosts pushed for a winner, but chances were squandered, including a misplaced cross from Odong Allan and a saved shot from Wangi Barnabas.

The 1-1 draw leaves UMU Nkozi second with eight points, while MMU has two points.

With one game to play, UMU must win against winless University of Kisubi to stay in contention.
