Henry Musabe: My SUPL First Round Best XI.

Sports256 media senior reporter Henry Musabe shares his opinion on his best XI at the break of the StarTimes Uganda premier league. The selection is based on individual ability, performance, and consistency.

I have preferred a 3:4:3 system with three defenders, four midfielders, and three fowards with Vipers SC  workaholic box to box midfielder so far my player of the season.

Alfred Mukendereza (GK)- Vipers SC

Very impressive so far reclaiming the number one spot from Dennis Kigundu, with his experience, composure, saves and command he beats UPPC FC goal keeper Rogers Omedwa and Police’s Muwanga Mathias for the place who have also been impressive.

Defenders

Goeffrey Lubagkene – SC Villa
His composure and willingness to play from the back, speed, calmness, he gets a node in my best XI so far,  beats other impressive figures in UPPC FC’s Jonathan Odongo, Vipers’ Hilary Mukundane and Maroons captain Edward Kabona.

Kevin Dasylva – Vipers SC
A kingpin in the Venoms’ defense, they have formed a strong partnership with Mukundane at the heart of defense, his physically, ability to deal with aerial duels, and as well, he loves playing from the back.

Isa Mubiru – UPPC FC
The experienced defender takes a place in my XI so far for his ability to defend as well, he loves roving forward, on target already and assisting on many occasions for the printers

Midfield

Joel Serunjogi – KCCA FC
His calmness, ability to control the game, dictate the temple, and accuracy in long and short passes gives him a node at the break.

Isa Bugembe- UPPC FC
The former venom joined the printers deemed excess to requirement, but has so far seemed the best deep-lying midfielder in the league under Abadallah Mubiru and Livingston Mbabazi.

Abdul Karim Watambala- Vipers SC
Proving to be the best attacking midfielder in the league this season, In absence of Allan Okello who left for Young Africans, Watambala with the help of Usama, the Venoms still unbeaten haven’t felt the void left by the star boy yet. In my opinion MVP of the season so far.

Dennis Kalanzi – Police FC
Under Matia Lule, the versatile attacker who plays behind the striker in the Number 10 role or on the flanks, he has proved to be among the best so far with his ability to beat opponents, assists and goals for the Kops.

Forwards

Ambrose Kigozi – UPPC FC
His first season in the premier league, the printer’s hitman is on fire, scoring important goals for the team, putting them in the title contestants’ picture. Leading the chart with 8 goals in the clubs’ debut season, shows the talismans quality infront of goal.

Edson Agodenze – Buhimba United Saints

Not a familiar face to many Ugandan football fans, the Bunyoro province hitman has scored important goals for the struggling Buhimba to keep their survival chances alive. He is picked ahead of Express’ Senoga Kagawa and Sammy Ssebaduka.

Ivan Ahimbisibwe – KCCA FC

The Kasasiro boys’ talisman, his five goal- contribution so far this season has kept the team in close title context, and his quality, speed and trickery gives much to the Lugogo based club, he beats Club mate Richard Basangwa and Patrick Henry Kaddu who are also impressive.

Special Mentions to other outstanding peformers that could have made the XI

Rogers Omedwa (GK) UPPC FC, Mathias Muwanga(Police FC), Kawawa Junior Samuel (UPPC), Ibrahim Wammanah (URA), Bedia Ikamba (Police) , Arafat Usama, Enock Luyima(Vipers), Sammy Sebadduka(KCCA FC) Kagawa Ssenoga(Express), Ahmed Amayo (UPPC) , Patrick Kaddu (Kitara)
